Becoming a Member

The members of Prometheas believe that their lives are enriched by the events the society holds each year. Our lectures are always of great interest and are designed to add to a general knowledge and understanding of many different topics, from art to history to culture and more. Our programs also provide members with the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with other Americans of Greek descent and those with an interest in Greek culture, both ancient and modern.

Membership dues are $30 per year for both families and individuals, and $5 for students with valid ID. This small amount entitles you to free admission to almost all of our activities. With the money collected from dues, Prometheas has been able to make contributions to institutions that promote the Greek language, culture and heritage. Prometheas actively cooperates with other Hellenic societies and organizations in the Washington metropolitan area and has made donations to the Hellenic American Academy, to the Cultural Center and Building fund of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, to the Paideia Preschool of Saint Katherine's Greek Orthodox Church, to the Haiti earthquake victims and others.
